Ooh, neat! I've heard of a lot of people in here, but I haven't seen their death masks before other than Abraham's.

I know some of these are already up there but I thought it was pretty neat to have their live pic next to their death masks.

+ 1 to you sir for all these ~ also, I love how Oliver Cromwell's mask and depiction both got his forehead mole perfectly. I would think that in those days, they would simply not include ugly markings on people's faces when painting portraits.

So I'm comfortable enough with myself to say this, Ned Kelly and James Dean both are pretty damn good looking dudes and I've seen there death masks before and I've always thought not good looking death masks. That's not weird is it???

Awesomeness @Airbornemama ! I'd love to see one made. It's a little morbid, but my family has taken mourning photos since the creation of the camera. My parents photos are obviously the hardest for me. I don't look at them, but keep them in a special place. I did not take them, they were given to me by my uncle. It's hard enough seeing live photos of those who have passed. Seeing them in casket is heart wrenching. However, it can also be reassuring. My momma looked so peaceful and beautiful. She was always beautiful, but heartache over losing my dad and pain from her ailments was always visible on her face in life.
    Time to get my puffs.

I'm glad you have those last pic's of your parents, it's hard to know that is the last picture of them you will ever get, but I would think a nice memento to have.
When my 7 yr. old passed away I asked my brother in law to take photo's at his funeral for me so I could at least have that very last memory tucked away. Well my Sister must have thought it was a bad idea because I never recieved the pic's and I know it's due to her. Now I know she was just trying to look out for me but she decided to never have kids of her own so she doesn't get how I felt and still feel about not getting them. In a way I'm pissed off, that wasn't something she needed to decide for me, I just wanted them to have to tuck away not make an album out of and break it out everytime I have company. Oh well, nothing can be done about it now.

You, my dear, are one strong woman. Sending you sympathy doesn't really explain the sorrow I feel for you, losing a child. Did your brother in law not keep the photos? Maybe you should bypass your sis and talk to him. You never know! I get what you're saying though. Even if I never looked at my parents photos, I know I have them. I'm sure members of my fam would take them away, knowing how I am, born with the feels of 100 weeping girls LOL If ever you want to vent or reminisce, I am here. I know I said it in another post about your loss, but there aren't many words anyone can say to help you grieve. people can offer you a hand, a shoulder, an ear, & a hug, though.

Thank you SO very much for your kind and loving words, you touched my heart. And as far as the brother in law goes I was going to ask him but before I got the chance he drove his truck into a secluded area in the woods and killed himself by carbon monoxide poisoning, his truck idled for so long that it got hot enough to catch fire and it burned to the ground, there really wasn't anything left of Rick. They said it was lucky that the rear licence plate fell off the truck while burning or they would have had a terrible time figuring out who it was. So I'm sure my Sister threw them away. And the crying like a baby at everything is me also, I cried at the Campbell's soup commercial where the little boy melted from a snowman to a little guy eating soup! lolol, my Grammy called me her sensitive one so I get it. Again thank you for being so kind hearted.

Thank you again @Dream Catcher, yes it was difficult for her and myself but it's been quite awhile gone by now so it's easier on the heart these days. ;)

I'm sorry... I know you are having a conversation with a lot of feels... But I have to ask... On the subject of lincoln... Which one is the real mask? You have two of them... One with the beard, and one without...

The one without the beard is a "life" mask he had made, there is another life mask of him but I didn't want to post that one also. And the bearded one is his death mask. I have labeled all the masks with their names and on Lincoln's I put which was his life mask and his death mask above his photo's.;)
