    Here, there and everywhere!
Beneath the streets of Paris lies a vast network of catacombs containing the bones of 6 million former residents.
The Les Halles district was suffering from contamination of poor burials and mass graves in the churchyard cemeteries, there was a lot of sickness in the area, and in some cases the ground level in the churchyards had risen 10-20 feet just from the volume of human remains in them. Something needed to be done so the quietly moved the bones down below. It is now the world's largest necropolis.

Very cool, why did they make art with the bones? Was that a normal thing back in the day for mass collections of bones like this?

Nope. Saw the movie, and the the 2007 Catacombs with Pink in it. I would have to be surrounded by bad asses, holy water and crosses hanging from every possible body part. Maybe even a few more tattoos.

I've known about it's history since I was young.
The French underground fighters in ww2 use to hide in them.

Idk, some might find this as a desecration. Not me, I think its somewhat an honorable art which one could be proud to be a part of. You were part of a time history will always remember. Not everyone gets to be remembered, some just fall flat in some lake, bloat, disintegrate, and become fish food, never to be thought of again. This isn't so bad, plus you have some company...

Been there, done that. It was an amazing tour, fascinating and a bit scary too tbh. It's not like an ordinary tour, plus we got to go where not a lot of other people set their foot (or maybe it was something the guide told us to make it feel more special)..

I think this is pretty cool. why don't they just hire a bunch of people to cremate these remains, I wonder? I feel like they are so clustered, it's in a way, a very unjust form of burial for the dead... better off as ashes.
